Voluntary Critical Illness and Voluntary Accident Insurance policies are designed to provide extra security if you or a family member is diagnosed with a serious illness or involved in an accident. These plans are not meant to replace medical insurance and you must be enrolled in a First Data medical plan to be eligible for this coverage.
Family members are eligible for both Critical Illness and Accident plans. However, the First Data employee must be enrolled in medical coverage to take advantage of these plans.

Critical Illness Insurance is coverage that can help cover the extra expenses associated with a serious illness. When a serious illness happens to you or a loved one, this coverage provides you with a lump-sum payment of your choice. You can enroll when you are a new hire or during Annual Enrollment. You choose the coverage level, either $15,000 or $30,000 and can receive a lump-sum in Initial Benefits upon diagnosis. Payments may be used to help pay for expenses generally not covered by medical and disability income coverage. The Total Benefit Amount available to you is three times the Initial Benefit Amount you select in the event that you suffer more than one Covered Condition. Payment(s) you receive will be made in addition to any other insurance you may have and you can spend the funds any way you see fit.
Paying For Critical Illness Coverage
You pay the entire cost of coverage with after-tax deductions and your rate depends on your pay schedule and coverage tiers. Visit the Your Benefits Resources website for personalized rates. There are five coverage options:
Accident Insurance coverage provides you with a lump-sum payment when you suffer a covered injury or undergo covered testing, medical services or treatment AND meet the group policy and certificate requirements. There are more than 150 covered events and there is no limit on the number of different accidents that will be covered.
Payments are made directly to you to use as you see fit. they can be used to help pay for medical plan deductibles and copays, out-of-network treatments, for your family's everyday living expenses or whatever else you need while recuperating from an accident.
