Vision Service Plan

Word to the Wise: You can use your Health Care FSA to reimburse expenses not covered by the Vision Service Plan (VSP).

The Vision Service Plan (VSP) helps with the cost of eye exams and prescription eyewear. You pay the full cost of coverage with before-tax dollars deducted from your paycheck. The amount you pay depends on whom you cover under the plan.

Here's how you save when you use VSP network providers:

  • For Eye Exams - You pay a $10 copay and the plan pays the rest.
  • For Lenses & Frames - Your copay is $20 for lenses covered under the plan. Your copay is $20 for frames, which are then covered up to the plan allowance. Check with your VSP doctor for details. Also, note that when you buy lenses and frames during the same visit, your total copay will be only $20.
  • For Contact Lenses - The plan pays up to $120 per year.

To find VSP network providers near you, go to VSP and look under the VSP Signature network or call 800.877.7195. Simply choose a provider and make an appointment. Be sure to tell the doctor that you are a VSP member, and give your Social Security number. You won't need to file a claim - the doctor and VSP will handle that for you.

If you choose to use an out-of-network provider, the benefits paid are reduced, you will need to pay at point of service and you must file your own claim.
